That’s right. Beta invites start some time this week, you think you’ll get one? well think again, they’re only going out to active LBP 1 players so unlucky face to all. All the details, post and stuff after the jump. Listen up LittleBigPlanet™ fans, We’ve got some pretty exciting news for you! We need some help testing out LittleBigPlanet 2, and we have selected some of you to come along and join in the fun. If you have been selected, for a few weeks you’ll be able to Play, Create and Share yourself silly in our greatest handmade adventure to date – all before anyone else sees it! How do I know if I have been selected for this beta? We will be sending out invitations to the LittleBigPlanet 2 beta during this week to users who’ve been really active in LittleBigPlanet (PS3™). So if you have been a busy Sackboy™ or girl then an invite might be coming your way. This decision has now been made; unfortunately we are not able to recruit any further Beta Testers at present. (Please note that e-mails have not yet been sent. This text will change when they have) If you don’t want to join in, you can ignore the invite. If you do want to join in, the invite will contain all the information you need to get started as well as the Beta Trial Terms and Conditions. A few points to be aware of: To take part in the beta you must be 18 years old or over and be a resident in a country in which we operate a PlayStation®Store. See http://eu.playstation.com for full details. You will also need a PlayStation®3 or PlayStation®Portable (PSP) with a broadband internet connection and a PlayStation®Network master account. The beta will be conducted in English only so you need to be able to provide your feedback in English. Our current Beta Test Community and our existing LittleBigPlanet beta testers will automatically be included in this beta trial. Please note that being selected for this beta trial does not give you access to other beta trials we may operate. Participation in our beta trials is subject to our Beta Trial. By accepting our invitation to join, you will be accepting the terms of this agreement so please read it carefully. These will be included in the invitation e-mails. What if I’m not chosen? If you’re not lucky this time, you can still find out more about LittleBigPlanet 2. Why not check out the official site: http://www.littlebigplanet.com/en-gb/2/ So stay tuned and remember to check your inbox.

It’s time to remove the “dead tag” from Duke Nukem Forever. Gamers at the Penny Arcade Expo got their hands on the demo on Friday. So after twelve years (and counting) of delay and disappointment, it’s time to dust off the weapons, grab some bubble gum, and kick some alien ass. Developer Gearbox Software is now spearheading the project – this after 3D Realm and Rockstar Games (who at one point purchased publishing rights) concluded their legal battle. This gave 3D Realm sole rights to the game, only to flip the game over to Randy Pitchford and crew over at Gearbox Software. Hardcore Duke Nukem 3D fans might recognize Randy’s name, why? That’s because he was hired in the 90’s to help develop Duke Nukem 3D. As 3D Realm started to get their feet wet with Duke Nukem Forever, Randy had already left the company, however always had an interest at heart for the first person shooter. With Duke Nukem cardboard cut outs, and posters present at PAX, fans were beginning to wonder if the gun-touting, foul mouth, woman chasing, protagonist was finally back? Then Mr. Pitchford ended all speculation when he brought out the demo on Friday. According to Pitchford the game is pretty much complete and will include a multi player option – which is a must with today’s generation of gamers and rightfully so. Given the fact, Duke Nukem Forever was first announced in 1997 as a sequel to Duke Nukem 3D. The finished version of the game will really need to deliver on a massive scale to succeed. Fans of the game have either moved onto other popular first person shooters or grown tired of promises and lost faith in the Duke Nukem brand itself. However judging from some of the reactions and comments from fans at PAX, I would say gamers are a forgiving bunch. If the finished product can deliver similar options found in today’s first person shooters (rank up systems, various multi-player game modes etc) the game shouldn’t have a problem selling units. And let’s not forget Duke Nukem was a household name, the name alone can help capture an audience and make a ton of money. A video showcasing the playable demo at the Penny Arcade Expo can be found below. 2K Games announced the game will be available for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. In terms of a release date, expect the game to hit store shelves during some point in 2011.
